automotive problem

Clean the terminals and inspect the connection of the terminal to the cable before you hook it back up. My guess is the terminals are dirty/corroded, or there could be a bad connection from the terminal to the cable. If there is a bad connection and you try and jump it, the cable will prolly feel hot where the connection is bad. You need a new battery if it's over three years old. Do you have a voltmeter?

Another option is getting better jumper cables and/or waiting longer between hooking it up and trying to start it with the jumping car running. Sometimes the connection and/or cables don't allow enough juice to flow and sometimes it just needs a minute to charge slightly in order to provide the cranking amps.

since they diagnosed the starter...good deal. But I remember back in the day when I had a POS with starting problems and I turned the key and a click happened....I had a cyllanoid(sp) problem which controls electrical current from the battery to other parts like the starter. My understanding this part was really cheap. Anyway, two cents from a guy who knows NOTHING about cars!!!!
