Pope Flick
Gee, it didn't occur to them that perhaps canceling this fluffy event would have been a step in the right direction? Idiots. No kidding - what a stinking, out and out bald faced LLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE. Every corporation always preaches be aware of how other's perceive you. You might think saying something is funny, but HR depts are always saying be aware of what other people might think. They knew. They could give a chit. This statement is crapola. muck
umm, and the FED agreed to loan AIG even MORE money today? 38 BILLION DOLLARS more?! They should've at least taken out the $500k for that party. Loan #1 = unsecured loan yielding L+8.5%, plus warrants on 79.9% of the company Loan #2 = SECURED loan yielding market rates (probably around 5%) ...two VERY different transactions that just so happened to involve the same company... Essentially, loan #2 was originally made to AIG by other third party lenders who simply refused to extend credit to AIG (just like they're not extending credit to anyone else either). muck
Reasons and protections are irrelevant without oversight since AIG clearly can't control itself. The $445,000 tab from the retreat smells awful. You do realize, however, that AIG is making and losing 10-100x that amount each and every day due to good/bad decisions they're making with regards to the various businesses they own and run (some of which they are trying to sell)? The bill is a stinky, rotten, pathetic ... bump in the road. Oh, and histrionics are not helpful.
H8tank
You can post that a Dem is getting money too and that is fine but what I am pissed about is the fact that THE GOVERNMENT bailed these crooks out and they have no problem spending OUR money....its disgusting and EVERYONE in government should be embarrassed for their part in this travesty. Really? The House Democratic Caucus spent more than $500,000 in taxpayer money over the past five years for its annual retreats at resorts in Pennsylvania and Virginia. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/500k-s...2009-02-03.html
