Grits and Shins
Looking like they will get the Lakers in the first round. Mavericks are 19-79 versus the Lakers all time, 3-23 since Shaq became a Laker (and one of those wins was this year against a Shaq-less team). The Mavs need a big man and it ain't Bradley (and it will never be Bradley).
Clubfoothead
That's an easy prediction to make. wink . I guess you are assuming they don't take care of business down the stretch and end up with the #3 seed. San Antonio probably has the easiest remaining schedule of the 4 teams that matter as they play the Mavs, Blazers, Seattle, Phoenix and Utah. Dallas probably has the toughest remaining schedule with the Lakers and San Antonio but Sacramento also plays the Lakers and something will have to give there. Unfortunately, if Dallas ends up #3 and the Lakers are the #6 you are probably right. thumbs_d
Grits and Shins
The Mavs have proven they can generally beat the teams they should beat but have a demonstrated difficulty beating the top teams ... you know, the ones that will make the playoffs. I predict that the Mavs will be done the first time they have to face LA, Sacramento or San Antonio. We always have the Stars to look forward to ... myhousekey
Stating the obvious but the #1 seed is crucial to the Mavs making any attempt at a long playoff run. The problem with them keeping the #1 seed has not been so much the Mavs losing ALLOT of games but the Spurs not losing any! I kind of hope it comes down to the last game of the season at San Antonio...winner take all. We really need Finley back.
Grits and Shins
Lost again to the Lakers last night to fall into a tie for first. Today is likely the last day they will be in first.
Clubfoothead
angry I'm going to go with they are just trying to psych out the Lakers and that is really the first round match-up Nelson wants.
myhousekey
It ain't over yet! I hope it comes down to the final game of the season @ San Antonio for first...may the best team win. Finley better be ready to play Saturday.
Grits and Shins
So much for wire-to-wire ... the Mavs have fallen to 2nd ... how much further will they fall?
Grits and Shins
3 Seed LA is coming to town and the Mavs will watch the playoffs from home after LA gets done with them angry
myhousekey
Whew....it worked out a little better then we thought. First round Mavs vs Blazers and they sealed up home court for the 2nd round (when they would most likely play Sacramento) In other words we won't see the Lakers till the conference finals if at all. First round matchups: (1) San Antonio vs. (8)Pheonix (4) Minnesota vs. (5) LA Lakers (3) Dallas vs. (6) Portland (2) Sacramento vs. (7) Utah Also interesting the Suns are 3-1 against the Spurs this year. Grits and Shins
Yup ... the Mavs have a chance to beat Portland ... a first round matchup against LA would have been a laugher and may have gone 5 games, but no more.
