Dutch Oven
When we bought our house approximately 2 1/2 years ago, some friends gave us a small (19"?) Sharp LCD TV. Last night, my wife tried to turn it on, and it would come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off. It has continued to do that every time you try to turn it on since. Anyone ever had this happen or know what the problem may be? Seems a little too soon for the TV to die.

Dutch Oven
try plugging it in to another outlet to see if its the tv or outlet. I did. Apparently it is the TV. Also, it is hooked up to a DirecTV recevier, which will stay on when the TV turns off.
MrTed46
Is it one of those TVs that have the power cord detach from the TV? Do you have another similar power cord to try if that is the case? If the cord doesnt work it sounds like a bad power supply in the TV. A local electronic shop can fix it and shouldnt be too pricey.
Kid Cid
Eh, it could be any number of things, a short on a board, bad power supply, etc. It'll probably cost $75 to get is looked at and fixed but a new one can be had for $200-$300. Almost not worth fixing it unless you're cash strapped.
