muck
While I'm still short the market, I've really (REALLY) lightened up from where I was last fall. In fact, I halved my remaining short position this afternoon (leaving me with about 25% of the account value short and the rest in cash). Hopefully (for everyone) this is a harbinger of things to come (i.e., a bottom).
Kid Cid
Muck, I'm stupid when it comes to the market. Can you or someone explain what it means to be short?

Perchoutofwater
What do you think of BP? Near a 10 year low, roughly 1/2 of what it was a year ago. A low P/E and a killer yield.
muck
Muck, I'm stupid when it comes to the market. Can you or someone explain what it means to be short? In sum, you make money when the asset (in this case, the S&P500) goes down. Being "long" is making money when it goes up.

Its a bit of a wierd spot ... because I'm regulated, I'm very reticent to post specific thoughts on specific publicly traded investments in an open forum. If you'll note, I very rarely (if ever) say anything good or bad about a specific company's securities... If you'd like to talk, drop me a PM and we'll chat. Double Agent
Being "long" is making money when it goes up. That's what John Holmes said.
