PBS Frontline - Ten Trillion and Counting

I was watching PBS Frontline last night called "Ten Trillion and Counting." It was very up to date. They even used interviews from a few days ago.

The show started with Bush and went to the present. They said never before has a President made tax cuts during war, especially on the top %. The government supposedly needs to take in more taxes to pay for Medicare Part D. (passed by Bush)

Obama is also cutting taxes, but the people PBS interviewed said that there is no way Americans can have it both ways. The government can not pay for social security, medicare, etc without raising taxes. They also showed how just Medicare Part D by itself with the baby boomers retiring will bankrupt America.

One economist said that America wants the perks but doesn't want to be taxed for it. So we borrow money from China on a daily basis. They even showed a room with people on computers and wireless headsets in an undisclosed location near the White House.

EVERYBODY'S taxes should be raised once we start seeing an economic turnaround. Until then, the government needs to stop spending money.

I agree but only as long as it takes to do some fairly easy things with Medicare and SS. Easy in that the solutions are right there staring us in the face but not so easy to get the entitlement mentality (which pervades virtually everyone, rich, poor and in the middle) replaced by a wider, less self-centric view.
