Jimimac
Our rule is that when a keeper is declared the original draft position in the prior year is moved up two rounds. For example: if in the 2008 draft Cedric Benson was drafted in the 3rd round this year he would be the first round pick, Donny Avery was picked in the 7th round last year he would be this years 5th round pick. Keepers may only be protected for a total of three years and must move up from their original draft position by 2 rounds each of the three years. If a drafted player is traded he also must conform to the same rules. My question is; if a player is picked up on waivers last year and is declared one of this years keepers what round of the draft would he need to be in? Anyone have any experience with this situation? With no rule in place, there are two main schools of thought on this issue (there was actually a very lengthy, in depth discussion on this on the main football forum earlier this offseason): 1. The waiver pickups count as last round draft picks, thus they cost two rounds higher than the last round 2. As the waiver pickups have no previous year draft pick associated with them, they are ineligible to be kept Now, whichever way your league goes, you must set up a clearly defined rule for this point forward. Favre4ever
Not eligible since they were never drafted....
daish19
i have been in a league where we use the pick before the keeper was taken. we allow free agents to be kept with the last pick in draft
