Kansas State 2000
Kansas City outfielder Carlos Beltran was told by the Royals on Thursday that he is being traded to the Houston Astros, the Associated Press learned. Beltran, the biggest prize on the trade market, was informed of the deal by Royals general manager Allard Baird, a person close to Beltran said on the condition of anonymity. The deal is a three-way trade that also includes the Oakland Athletics, and reliever Octavio Dotel. Baird did not give Beltran the details of others in the deal, the source said. Oakland said it would have a conference call later Thursday but did not announce the subject.
