Chloroform Rx
I am an AP owner and I grabbed Gerhart off waivers after the draft but I feel like he might be burning a hole on my roster. I understand that a backup isn't (won't be) good just because the starter is, but sometimes there are exceptions, those being a solid offensive line coupled with starting backs carrying the load on said team. But the case with Glen Coffee is an example of how this is not the rule. Eddie Royal had one solid year, then one terrible year. I actually like him but there are guys like Anthony Gonzlez sitting on waivers and it's hard to justify keeping him. Thoughts?
delusions of grandeur
I love Gerhart. I'd like to get my hands on AP, just to have him as a handcuff. I had really hoped he ended up somewhere where he'd see goal-line action, but he's one heck of a handcuff. As for Royal, is this PPR? If so, then I keep him for now, with the Bronco's rookies being banged up, and likely to be eased into action. It could be another dreadful season in store for him, but I like his chances out of the slot alot more than I do Gonzalez, who I think is going to be completely irrelevant, even playing in the middle, where Clark is the main target... Only time will tell with Royal, but if non-PPR though, then I throw him back, especially if there looks like better options on the WW. Big Country
Every player is worth a roster spot in some league, it just depends on how big a leagues roster is. For example, I play in a deep IDP league and there is no doubt these guys... plus many others way deeper on depth charts, are on a roster or DTS in the league. IN an 8 team league with 16 man rosters, then most likely these are waiver wire guys. It comes down to how big is your roster and what is available on the wire that you would replace them with? AG is in a similar boat to Royal in that he had a solid year, but in his case, got hurt and other players at his position really stepped up. Hard to say how that shakes out this season so preseason is key. In my opinion, AG has a higher potential upside, but Royal is more likely to be a starter (at least early in the season) and see production early on while Indy sorts out its WR rotation. I See royal as a super sleeper this year. If your league rewards for KR, and PR yards, then Royal gains value there. I would hold onto him and see what happens,
WashingtonD
Mark my words...Royal will be a beast this year, especially in PPR...keep him
SWMN Guy
Royal? Please.... Toby is worth holding onto but only if you have patience. He's been struggling with the tempo of the game in camp and probably won't have an impact until after MN bye week, which is 4. After that he will assume Chester Taylors role, but with more action at the stripe. Patience, grasshopper......
