Clubfoothead
Maybe, just maybe, we could privatize ALL schools and open up schools to competition. This would have a few valuable affects on our schools, the first of which would be more of a free market approach that would offer freedom of choice for the students and parents. I could not think of anything worse.
SEC=UGA
I could not think of anything worse. What if a virus, blight, destroyed all of the Josh Gordon in the world?

Perchoutofwater
More importantly, why would it be good? It would be good for several reasons. 1. There were would be competition between schools to get students. 2. Private schools (excluding elite) are considerably cheaper per pupil than public schools. 3. Private schools are not beholden to the teachers unions. 4. There would be considerably less bureaucracy. The only downside to this would be special needs students. I would think even there it could be worked out, buy just paying more per pupil for special needs kids. You basically give each parent voucher for school for either a regular kid or a special needs kid. Then the parents take the vouchers to the school they choose to send their kid to. If some schools want to charge more they can and the parents can make up the difference.
