bigmike4969
So my girlfriend and I, after 11 years of being together, have decided to get married. Neither of us want a big wedding and we kinda just want to go somewhere and get married. So we are heading out to Vegas in April for a week. We already made the reservations to have Elvis oversee the ceremony. We are staying at a newer hotel/casino called the Cosmopolitan, its next door to the Bellagio so I take it we are right in the middle of the Strip. Now this is my first time to Vegas. We plan on heading to Hoover Dam for a day trip and taking in some shows and sightseeing but what I really need to know from the Huddle Vegas vets are: -where are the best/cheapest place to play? I usually play blackjack, and I have been reading that you will find lower limit tables in the downtown section easier. I also play hold em (but not that good) so looking for what casinos are the better places to play. -good places to eat. I have read the wynn and bellagio buffet are the best, but I want to hear also about other restaurants that are good too (and wont break my wallet). -interesting places to visit in Vegas (or outside the city). Like I said we plan on renting a car for a day so we are going to Hoover Dam. If there are places on the way there/back that you can think of that would be neat to see please let me know. -where to avoid. I know you don't want to travel far off the strip, and I don't plan to. Any tips/advice/forewarnings are welcome as well. Thanks!
Dutch Oven
You're going to have a hard time finding blackjack for anything less than $10 on the strip, IMO, but there may be some places downtown on Fremont where you can. (Not sure b/c I haven't been down there in a long time. Millions of good restaurants to choose from. For a place that won't break the bank, we always go here: http://www.battistaslasvegas.com/ Good food, good atmosphere and all you can drink house wine. Plus, ther's this littel old man who plays the accordian. He'll ask you where your from and then play your state song. I would also recommend Mesa Grill, but it's obviously a bit more pricey. I know you'll get a lot more good suggestions from the rest of the crew here. Congrats on the wedding.
SEC=UGA
I have enjoyed the following restaurants: Twist Tao Del Frisco's (it is off of the strip a bit) I am certain there are many other great one's, but I am a creature of habit. You have got to go to the spearmint rhino, leave the wife at the Blueman Group Show (which I was forced to go to and found utterly unamusing, but hey, I hat shows like that, the bluemen, that is.) For BlackJack go to Freemont, any of the casinos there will have single deck $15 to $25 hands. Do not go to Glitter Gulch on Freemont... Square
I haven't been to Vegas in over 5 years so things may have changed. But you could find cheap blackjack at a casino called Casino Royale that was on the strip. The other place was called Montego bay (I believe that was the name, it was next door to the Flamingo). Not sure if those places are still there though. If you are looking for cheap or free things to do in Vegas, here is a thread on Slick Deals that is on the subject. Might give you some ideas. Hope everything goes well.

Cunning Runt
I do like Casino Royale. Kinda of a divey place, but Casino Royale offers (or at least offered) Switch Blackjack. You had to play 2 hands, but you could swap the top cards of your two hands right off the bat if you wanted and then could still double down, split, etc... after that. Dealer got some benefits too to even things out, but it was hard to lose.
