Blind Bidding Free Agency Strategy

It seems like quite a few members participate in Championship type leagues which utilize blind bidding to acquire free agents. Any words of widsom on strategy? I've always felt that it made sense to make one large bid to acquire an excellent player, who also fills a need on the roster. Others wait and try to upgrade as often as possible. It never made any sense to me to be too conservative. You typically dont win the bids, and are left with bidding dollars at the end which have been wasted. Any thoughts?

it matters if your league allows you to acquire a WW pickup for $0 or $1 minimum. In leagues I'm in with a $0 minimum i tend to throw the cash around looser since even if I run out I can still get by.

This. It all depends on your rules, Ghandi. Need more info here. For instance, one league has a rule that blind bids are serviced by Wed midnight and after that we can grab free agents for $0. So you'll never have a hole you can't fill. So if a Foster, Grant, Vick, whatever comes along then you can bid big, especially if it's an area of need (but you can usually trade them to someone else who has a bust at another position).
