Hugh 0ne
Toshiba Thrive 32GB running the Android operating system, do I need some type of anti-virus software on this thing? For internet browsing and/or for e-mail? Same question applies to the Ipad tablets. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Caveman_Nick
Antivirus software for the iPad would be a waste of money. The inherent design of iOS uses a scheme called 'Sandbox'. Basically all of the 'Apps' on the iPad play in their own sandbox and do not have the capability to talk to one another without direct user intervention, and then IIRC this is reserved only for Apps developed by Apple. (such as opening a doc received in email in another application, clicking on a link, etc.) Can't speak for Android. Some info here re:iPad if you care to read it. I don't think anyone is claiming that the iPad is invulnerable, but it is pretty solid in it's natural state.
lennykravitz2004
AVG, Lookout (what I use), and Avast all have antivirus for the Android phones, so I would "presume" the same for tablets. Personally, I would have antivirus on it.
