SeductiveNun
In case anybody missed it this weekend, for the first time in history, the NCAA Frozen Four teams all come from the same conference. The WCHA has sent Colorado College, Denver, North Dakota, and Minnesota to the hockey version of the final four. The Frozen Four kicks off April 7 in Columbus, OH. Briefly, here's how the regionals went this last weekend. In the Midwest Regional, Colorado College got by Colgate in their first game, and was down 3-0 against Michigan in the regional final before scoring 4 unanswered goals to beat the Wolverine 4-3. In the Northeast Regional, Denver outlasted a surpisingly tough Bemidji State team (making it's first ever NCAA D-1 tournament appearance) in overtime, and then beat an equally tough New Hampshire team in the regional finals 4-2. In the East Regional, North Dakota took out the pride of Beantown, as they defeated first Boston University and then Boston College to emerge from that region. In the West Regional, Minnesota overcame two outstanding goalie performances by Maine and Cornell, winning both games in overtime. 1-0 vs. Maine, and 2-1 vs. Cornell. The matchups now are Colorado College vs. defending NCAA champs Denver in one game, while North Dakota takes on Minnesota in the other. During the games last weekend, NHL commentators were working the games, and they were all praising the quality and pace of the college game, and how the NHL could learn a thing or two from these games. Good hockey all around.
Azazello1313
CC/DU has evolved into quite the rivalry, two fantastic programs 60 miles apart. that game should be great.
Randall
That is always a good series. Some powerhouses that many people never hear anything about play year after year. Great competition.
SeductiveNun
In the 2nd period, Denver leads CC 3-0 on 3 power play goals. CC controlled play for most of the 1st, but Denver came on strong on the PP late in the 1st and scored 2 goals. Sounds like the Pioneers are in control of the game so far, but CC came back beign down 3-0 to Michigan in the regional final.

SeductiveNun
denver u., back-to-back! 772258[/snapback] Gotta hand it to the Pioneers, another job well done, and even as a Gopher fan, I'm truly happy to see them win another NCAA championship. It should be a fun season next year in the WCHA, as the Gophers get a year older, and hopefully can get further into the NCAA tourney. You've got to admit, they went a lot further than most people expected them to. Once again, hats off to the Pioneers, showing that they are still the top of the class of NCAA hockey until somebody else proves otherwise.
