The Green Bay Packers have agreed in principle to a six-year, $37.5 million contract with A.J. Hawk, the fifth overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

The former Ohio State linebacker hopes to get the language of the contract done by Saturday morning so that he can practice. Terms of his guarantees haven't been finalized. Those will be done Friday night and Saturday morning.

Talks between the Packers and Hawk's agent, Mike McCartney, heated up Thursday afternoon when the Jets completed a similar deal with D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the fourth pick in the draft. The Packers reported to camp Friday.

All of the Packers' draft choices now have contract agreements.

The report I read earlier about the D-Lineman all working out in every drill, Pickett showing up 4 pounds lighter than what they had hoped...

The db's aquired in the offseason, the ability to allow the 22 year old Carroll to learn for a year or two...

The drafting genius which landed us AJ Hawk, and Abdul Hodge, along with Barnett, Manning, Taylor, and Poppinga... We've got something going here... Give it a year or two...

The line will gel, we're on the right track there

Now about that runningback position, and how Rodgers progresses.

We've had a great run for over a decade, and Thompson is setting the packers up for another great run in the future... I'm ready.

Worst case scenario, we have Adrian Peterson waiting for us. :D

Kenny Irons isnt a slouch either... I think our team improves a lot, but the record doesnt show it. I love Peterson and what he can do, but he runs to upright, and that will be a problem in the NFL.

If we were to land him, Irons, or Lynch, I'd be extremley happy.

No matter where we draft next year, there will be a good RB waiting for us sometime on the first day. If the Pack ends up drafting late, I have no doubt TT will find somebody underrated.

Michael Bush would be nice, but I think he'll skyrocket up draft boards after he works out.

Roman signs with probably the worst team in the league. Even worse than the Titans. :D

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Safety Mark Roman signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, three days after he was cut by the Green Bay Packers.

Roman, a seven-year veteran who also played for Cincinnati, appeared in every game over the last two seasons with Green Bay.

He had 90 tackles and two interceptions last season, but was released one day before the Packers opened training camp. Roman apparently was unhappy when the Packers signed free-agent safety Marquand Manuel in the offseason.

To make room, the 49ers released safety Ben Emanuel, who played sparingly last season.

In San Francisco, Roman will compete with newcomer Chad Williams, Keith Lewis and Mike Adams in a wide-open race to become the 49ers' starting free safety. Roman also could see time in Tony Parrish's spot at strong safety.
