Grits and Shins
My local 12 team draft just completed. We have fairly standard performance scoring with PPR 9 starters with a required TE and 1 flex spot. Like most leagues our draft typically sees 19 or so running backs taken in the first 2 rounds. I was drafting in the 5 hole. As expected the first three pickes were LJ, SA, LT Fourth guy snapped up Tiki Barber with no thought what so ever. I had already decided that Portis was not an option so that left me considering SJackson vs RBrown. Despite RBrown's showing against Carolina I decided to take RBrown. Edge, Portis, SJackson, McGahee and Rudi Johnson were next. Here's where the draft took an interesting, unexpected turn. Both the guys in the 11th and 12th spots took back-to-back WRs 11th took SSmith + Marvin Harrison. 12th spot took Chad Johnson + Randy Moss. TWO guys passed on running backs in the first two rounds! Next 5 picks Antonio Gates, Fitzgerald, Cadillac Williams, Chris Chambers, Peyton Manning At 2.08 I like the value of Torry Holt much better than any of the other RBs so I go that route (passing on Boldin) Next 4 picks Lamont Jordan, Anquan Boldin, Kevin Jones, Corey Dillon END OF ROUND 2 So 2 WRs were taken in the 1st round and 6 WRs were taken in the 2nd round + Antonio Gates + Peyton Manning. I was floored. This did not look at all like my local league! Surely this madness would stop and teams would get back on the RB kick. First 2 picks in the 3rd round - WRs! Terrell Owens and Reggie Wayne. Dunn gets taken next and then yet another WR with the 4th pick in the 3rd round, Hines Ward. My pick and I can Donald Driver here to continue the WR run ... or I can take a RB I am very high on this year ... I go Mike Bell, passing on the safer picks of FWP and DDriver. Next pick, another WR - Darrell Jackson. Then comes Westbrook and followed by yet another 2 WRs, Driver and Burress. Julius Jones and Droughns fall next and the last pick of the round WR Santana Moss. END OF ROUND 3 SEVEN more WRs taken in the 3rd round. Now if you were paying attention you might have realized that the last pick of the 3rd round was the guy in the 12th hole ... HE ONCE AGAIN passed on a RB when he grabbed Santana Moss. Wow ... that was ballsy but he has great WRs (Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Santana Moss). So surely he is going to take a RB here right, WRONG. First pick of the 4th round he takes Tony Gonzalez ... four picks NO RBs. At this point I am eyeing Mason or Roy Williams ... neither make it to me. 3 more WRs fall and 1 TE (Shockey). Wow ... so now I can take a WR like Walker, Housh, Glenn ... or I can take Heap. I take Heap. Round finishes out with Witten, Walker, Foster and Brady. END OF ROUND 4 That round saw four more WRs off the board, 4 TEs and 1 QB. The WR runs continues into the 5th round where Horn, Glenn, Galloway, Houshyermamma, Branch, Keyshawn Johnson were drafted 5.02 - 5.07, Evans at 5.09. Two more TEs Cooley and Crumpler. Reggie Bush is the last pick of the 5th round and is this team's FIRST RB. END OF ROUND 5 Only 3 RBs drafted in that round, Chester Taylor, Barlow, Bush Team with Bush as his only starter takes DeAngelo Williams with the first pick in the 6th round. Here is how far some of the RBs fell: 5.01 - Chester Taylor 6.04 - Frank Gore 6.08 - Dominic Rhodes 9.03 - Amhan Green 9.04 - Fred Taylor 9.07 - Thomas Jones 12.05 - LenDale White 13.04 - Marion Barber Wow ... that was one of the most unusual drafts I've been in. SIDENOTE: I had three owners drafting remotely so this year for the first time ever I entered the draft interactively and the three remote owners simply entered their picks when it was their turn. I used the Live Draft Room on MFL and it was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! I came out with this team: Favre / McNair RBrown / MBell / Rhodes / Addai / Lundy / Pittman Holt / HoushYerMamma / Coles / Williamson / Jennings Heap Akers IND I missed out on a top notch QB and am hoping Favre's soft schedule plays out and McNair is looking good. I'm happy with the RBs and less enthused with my WRs although Holt is a solid #1, Housh is a decent #2 and Coles should catch enough balls to serve as a #3. Very happy to have Heap, Akers and INDY

Grits and Shins
I give yer crappy thinly veiled rate my team post a .10023843720. I almost didn't include my team 'cause I knew somebody would go that route. This draft was dominated by the WR. The guy that didn't take a RB until the 5th round currently has these guys as his RBs: Bush, DeAngelo Williams, Benson, Dayne. He sold out on the flex that requires only 1 starting RB
Avernus
i might be able to top this...12 team draft... 1.10 Manning 1.11 S Smith 2.01 Holt 2.02 CJ TO didn't go until 4.02, Corey Dillon went 3 picks before him as did Heap and Eli...and Bledsoe :rofl:and almost every tier 2 WR... I took Caddy, Fitz and CTaylor...I was ready to take TO and he was snapped up 2 picks before me...so I took Mason... this was crazy...I was a little worried about TO's hammy and situation on the team, so I decided to take another RB before picking him up... the general feeling around the room was that they didn't want to take him... so the guy who took him is the one who took CJ and S Smith.....his RB's are Dillon, Foster and FTaylor.. TDFFFreak
I would have taken Westbrook before Bell as more of a sure thing in the 3rd round. For that matter you could have gotten a great #2 RB and a very solid #1 WR if you had drafted a RB in the second round, but the way the draft went, I understand the need to grab a WR in the 2nd. Crazy draft indeed. 7.342215 Edited August 27, 2006 by TDFFFreak

I am happy with Holt at in the 2nd.
Avernus
Dillon, Foster and FTaylor would not instill a lot of confidence at least he has WR's I will admit, he got Culpepper at a steal...I was almost ignoring Culpepper by accident as I wanted Delhomme and got retarded when Delhomme was drafted 2 rounds before I planned on taking him... I do like MBell's upside though. I was also very pleased to land Rhodes in the 6th and Addai for the handcuff in the 10th. Just missed Barber by one pick so I took Addai

I would take my chance with Westy over Bell, but it's close IMO.

Avernus
I was all I could do to resist the temptation to keep drafting RBs I mean, my team is fine, except QB....I didn't expect people to draft a 2nd QB before a #3 WR and starting TE... someone even took a QB in the 3rd and 5th
Grits and Shins
I was 4 picks away from snagging McNabb when the guy that had drafted Palmer 2 rounds early took him JStevens, Hilton, Curtis Martin and Priest Holmes were all drafted

Grits and Shins
All but Holmes was drafted by the "remote" guys so we didn't know who they took until they had made the pick
Down Goes Frazia
JStevens, Hilton, Curtis Martin and Priest Holmes were all drafted ..... not too many huddlers in your local huh blitz. with these guys being drafted not to mention the fall of RB's so late... that league should be ripe for the pick'ins. I was in awe...
Grits and Shins
We had a newbie in our league last year that quit after just one year. He told me he left the draft swearing to himself that he had just raped us. He finished last in his division losing something like his first 6 games in a row

Grits and Shins
Another interesting note ... the guy that didn't draft a RB until the 5th round has been in the league since 1994 and has never been to the SB.

Here's how the first 6 picks of my local cheap $50 league went last night. I had the 6th pick I would have rather had the 11 or 12, but was pleased with who fell to me. I had it all planned that if S. Jackson was available I would pick him at #6. As it turned out: 1-1 Alexander (Seattle homer) 1-2 LJ 1-3 LT 1-4 P. Manning 1-5 Ch. Johnson 1-6 Tiki I don't blame you Grits. I would have gone for Holt also in rd.
