SLAYER
better football team at the present than Florida. They are just on a roll, whether or not they can maintain this level for the rest of the season remains to be seen. But next week I would play them against any team in the country. absolutely dominating at this point in time.
BS Miscreant
Yeah. If the Gators were unbeaten right now you'd have a hard time not ranking them #1. However, like USC, they do have that one fairly significant blemish. Of course, should the unbeatens all lose one, we could be seeing a UF/USC NC game. No offense to OU. Menudo
No question about it, Florida is one of, if not the most talented football teams in the country. However, they lost, AT HOME, to Ole Miss, which shows that, though they are capable of playing the way they did today against Georgia, they are also capable of laying an egg, like they did. The way college football works is that you pay a price for a loss like that, and, in the end, if two BCS teams go undefeated, Florida will pay that price. SLAYER
I could give a rat's azz about rankings, BCS and whatever I'm just saying at this moment they are the BEST in the country. now whether or not they are the best in 2 months who knows? but right now I would put them against ant team in the country. That's all I'm saying.

Sgt Ryan
Problem with no playoff. Would Penn St make it out of the first round of any scenerio with any of the top other 7 teams in a 8 team playoff. No, but right now, they are in the NC game. What a joke. And to stay on the subject, FLA looks impressive. But the SEC is clearly not as strong this year, and GA was one of the most over rated teams in the country. They should be 15 at best, never a top 5 team. The best 5 teams in the country in my opinion only have 1 undefeated team amongst them. And after FLA beats Bama, you can only imagine how much politicing will go on to be #2, and get a gift wrapped NC going against Penn St. WOW, I hope OU can get there. What a gift that will be. Agree, that UGA is ranked correctly, currently. But to say that they were the most over rated at the beginning of the season is not necessailly true. When the polls came out UGA had not lost ALL of their starting O-line, they had not lost 3/4 of their starting D-line, they had not lost a starting linebacker and had not lost a number of second string linemen and linebackers. I'm not sayng that UGA would be undefeated at this point had they not have lost some key players, but, I do believe that they would be much more likely to have shown better in all of the games they played in this year. UGA still would have had weaknesses, the inability to throw the long ball, a lackluster secondary, predictable play calling and game management, and a young O-line, but the problems would have been nowhere near as significant. And BTW, congrats to the Gators, they played an exceptional game out there and made key adjustments at halftime to completely dominate UGA. Sgt Ryan
I believe Texas / Florida will be the matchup if everyone loses 1 game. The Computers love Texas because they played OU, Okie St, and Tech already. Guess what, OU, gets Tech and Okie St, and already played Texas, so their computer rating is going to sky rocket if they win out. I wouldnt be so sure if OU doesnt jump Texas in a 3 way tie scenerio in the BCS, especially if we beat #1 Tech.

The Sooners just have to hope that the Cowboys don't beat'em to the punch or bye bye 3-way tie. Double Agent
Whoever is ranked highest in the BCS. Are you sure? I thought the Big 12 Commish decides. I may be completely wrong. Edit: Brian is correct. Highest BCS ranking gets it. Edited November 6, 2008 by Double Agent
Vinatieri Is God
Whoever is ranked highest in the BCS. Thanks. That should be interesting because OU & Texas would be very close. So not only won't they get to decide the nat'l championship on the field, they won't even get to decide conf. championship on the field. What a circus. How can we not have playoffs? Gross. If it is a 3 way tie, I seriously think it would go to OU, with UT behind them and Tech pulling up the rear. Tech could finish up with only 1 loss and end up not playing in a BCS bowl. The problem Tech ultimately has (besides having some really tough games coming up) is that they would be losing to these teams very late in the season. Thats the problem with the BCS system, is that when you lose is every bit as problematic as who you lose to. Unfortunately, given the system, it HAS to be that way. Not saying the timing of a loss doesn't matter but the BCS system is actually better than the old just polls system. Why? The polls are still there, yes, but the computers keep teams from dropping way out of contention after just a single loss, assuming of course they actually have a decent SoS. Not really, because the polls are 2/3rds of the formula. So if the computers have a team ranked high, but the two polls drop the team way low, then thats pretty much where they will be in the BCS. The computers give a team a slight bump up or a slight bump down, but if the polls whack ya hard, then you're pretty much toast. Now back in 2003, that wasn't the case, which was why Oklahoma was ranked #1 in the BCS after losing the Big 12 title game despite being ranked #3 in both polls.
