picked Jeff Reed as my kicker in almost every league I am in ... just start the guy who gets close but no cigar.

You've got to be either incredibly good looking, incredibly well hung, and/or have inherited a tremendous amount of wealth. Scooby doesn't impress me as being retarded.

no penalties for any of those - but at this point doesn't matter - just need someone to throw in there so i don't get a zero.

I do have roster room

I think by week 4 (bye week filli-in) it's a 50/50 shot that it could be Batch or Dixon. Either roll the dice or roster both. I think the PIT staff likes Dixon as a more intriguing possibility, but I also have heard noises about starting with Batch. To be honest, I think that may be fan/sportswriter sentiment speaking since Batch played fairly well in a pinch for PIT before - but that was a while ago. And I think either guy could start week 1 and do poorly enough in that game and/or the following couple of games that they could surrender to the other by week 4.

Sorry, can't really help much more than that.

I can't imagine that Batch got ANY snaps with the 1's in camp/preseason. I'd have to believe they'd start Dixon week 1.

BB had good advice though..roster both and wait for them to announce the starter.

EDIT: if I could only roster one it'd be Dixon. Even if Batch starts I read somewhere that there are plans/packages for Dixon to get some snaps.

Confirmed that Dixon will be the starter in week1.

Clipped from the Ed Bouchette article: Dennis Dixon will start at quarterback for the Steelers when they open the season Sunday against Atlanta at Heinz Field.

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that today after Dixon ran the first-team offense in practice and Charlie Batch ran the second team.

Dixon has made one start and just two appearances in his first two seasons with the Steelers. The Steelers were preparing Byron Leftwich to be their starter during Ben Roethlisberger's four-game suspension, but Leftwich will miss two to four weeks after a sprained MCL to his left knee in the second quarter of Thursday night's final preseason game.
