archiebonker
Hey guys, I know it's early. But just read Reshard Mendenhall might be retiring. Now, this is a 16 team league and QB's are a premium. 6pts per TD and 4 for QB's Who would you keep? QB Cam Newton RB Ray Rice RB Andre Ellington RB Reshad Jennings WR Demaryius Thomas

archiebonker
So Ellington over Rice eh?
Def.
PPR? Do you have to keep 3? If no, any benefit to just keeping 2?
archiebonker
PPR league. You can keep 1-2 or 3. But I guess I'll have to get a feel on how many others are keeping. I might end up keeping two only. But we'll see.
Def.
Hmm...tough call honestly. Rice has good rush stats until last year and has caught over 55+ balls each of the past 5 seasons. That being said, is he worth the risk? Personally I don't think so. His average yards per catch and carry took a massive dive last year continuing a 3 year trend. I believe he's lost a step and his ceiling does not merit the risk. He does get plenty of opportunities to touch the ball though. Ellington is intriguing, but there's so many unknowns still with him. I remember reading he plans to add like 10 pounds which may or may not affect his play. Also the line is still awful (probably worse the Baltimore's) and we still don't know who the other back will be they pair with him. Coaching stated multiple times that it will be a shared backfield, which likely means Ellington will have few chances goal line. I do think he has a higher ceiling then Rice though. If there is a benefit to only keeping 2 instead of 3 (like picking before those with 3 keepers), I would highly advise weighing what you think will be available at that pick compared to what you have. Odds are one of the two you have will be your best bet though. Personally I prefer Ellington because I think he has a better risk/reward then Rice. But Rice is probably the "safer" pick. bwebs13
QB Cam Newton RB Andre Ellington WR Demaryius Thomas I think the upside with Ellington is to enticing to pass up. Rice is on the downfall both on and off the field. I think Arizona has the better offense.
flemingd
What's it costing you to keep them? If you only keep 1 do you get your picks at the front of the draft? I'd only keep Thomas in that case, worst case scenario there are 48 other guys kept so you're looking at #50 or so. I wouldn't call Rice/Ellington top 50 guys at this point, and if they are, well then you just draft them back. Ideally someone else has a couple of extra studs they have to drop. I'm definitely not keeping Newton. Really, you need to mock out other rosters and eliminate their top-3's and see who is left and see if any other teams aren't likely to keep 3. archiebonker
That might be great advice, although Newton in this league is pretty valuable. (16 team league). But again, I'll have to go though the lineups and see who I think guys will keep and who will keep less.
