  1. Westy is 30, and you can count the number of RBs who have had great seasons at 30+ on one hand... even if you were missing a few fingers. Can't see McCoy as anything but the next RB replacement failure until one of these drafted RBs actually get a fulltime chance to prove themselves. I don't see any of the WRs having a "breakout" year. DeSean is still a year away from his third season (which most do), and Maclin will be learning the position at the NFL level, on an Andy Reid team. Plus if McNabb is to be successful he will be spreading the ball around, so none of the WRs will get top anything type numbers. Von (an Eagles fan)
  2. I think Matt Ryan will be suffering from "Big Ben Syndrome" ... A condition wereas fantasy owner will rate the QB higher than he should be, based on team wins, media attention, and annual hype rather than on the fantasy points the QB will obtain through actual scoring. Most prevalent after said QB has completed a 'soft' schedule or racking up yards due to coming-from-behind games. Easily spotted by the actual lack of TDs; less than 20. Also a favorite occurence with rookies (see Big Ben, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn), and back-ups moving to another team (see Damon Huard, David Garrard, Matt Cassel). Von
  3. He is talking about the other teams in the Patriots' division. How their further improvement will make Brady and company have to keep up their aerial attacks. As he feels the other teams in the Patriot's division will not be push-overs as in the past. Hence Moss should get a good number of TDs. Seems quite easy to understand... although I don't fully agree with it. Von
  4. So I guess you guys are telling him to drop a known commodity in SJax and use that to buy 'cheaper' players... without knowing who the other owners are keeping and the price they have on them. He has Ryan Grant and Brandon Marshall for $2 which tells me the league has been around a while, and others may have good players for real cheap and top players for cheap. They also may have over-priced players, pass their prime, they will be dropping, and free up bidding bucks. So if they can keep 5 good cheap players and have extra bidding bucks too, Footballjoe's 75 buck savings may not be that big of a thing. He could actually be forced to use it on the next-overhyped-player or grab a few unknown secondary players. While those with deeper pockets or more desires takes his prime choices away from him. I assumed he looked over the situation and made his choice based on all the factors. He was asking if his choice was reasonable, and he was not making some blinding mistake somewhere. One being dropping TO and Gonzo... (both with a short lifespan in a keeper league I thought he did right.) Von
  5. Looks to me like you know what you are doing... Von
  6. Based on your questions your team sounds like a stinker. Von
  7. In order: QB Kolb QB Quinn RB Bush RB Norwood WR Cotchery Von
  8. No trade. Because I don't buy into the whole Brees hype. Every year a different QB racks up the numbers and is then placed at the top of the QB list in fantasy the following season, and every year that QB falls far short... I think your buddy sees this too and is trying to get "top dollar" for an overvalued player. Von
  9. Chris Johnson. Why? Lynch has problems and it isn't just the team he plays for... Von
  10. Actually I would trade Randy Moss... he isn't getting any younger and his value is immense. With him, Rivers, etc you could probably grab yourself a very good pair of young players to go along with AP and Brady. Look to the future as well as now... Von
  11. When it comes to your core starters I would suggest that you do not take into account their teammate status or bye-weeks. Grab the best players you can at each position, based solely on your rankings and strategy. Use your back-up picks to fill in bye-week needs. Von
  12. NFL To Implement Ban On Tackling In 2009 July 6th 2009 The National Football League reported that experimental rules that would prohibit tackling at any point during play will be implemented for the entire 2009 season. The new rules are expected to reduce the number of injuries endured by NFL players over the season. “These new rules are the product of the player safety research we’ve been doing for several years now,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said during the league’s weekly press conference. “We’ve been looking for new ways to reduce injuries in our league, and, to be honest, we’re somewhat embarrassed we didn’t reach this obvious conclusion sooner.” The new rules written by the NFL’s competition committee stipulate that any attempt made by a defender to tackle an opposing ballcarrier will be assessed a 15-yard-penalty, with an automatic first down for the offense. “I think the new rule is great,” Rams quarterback during 2008, Trent Green said, neither of whose two career concussions came from actual tackles. “I think it’s really gonna open up things for us on offense. The fans are going to love it.” The rule poses a serious challenge to most defensive coordinators, who will have only a few months to reinvent their entire defensive philosophies once the 2009 season starts.. “I don’t think [the new rules] will be that big a deal for us,” Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. “We should be just fine with the defense we’re using now.”
  13. Goodell is a two-faced wussy moron. He gives out punishments for players who act stupid outside the realm of football, but does nothing when a coach is caught cheating (except for a who-knows draft pick and a fine that means even less). If Goodell was consistent he should have banned Belicheat indefinitely. At least his actions had a direct effect on the integrity of the game... not the stupidity of the individual player. Also Goodell helps in trying to cover up the scandel by destroying the evidence before anyone else can see it. This tells me that the films were much more than reported... Goodell is an idiot and Belcheat should not be allowed to coach.
  14. Would you be saying the same thing if his first pick was Cadillac Williams from a few years ago? Quitting a league based on a rookie draft pick that just happens to pan out is childish. Could it be that he turned down your offer? Of course the concept that Shaun Alexander would collapse was not the feelings about him at that time... as he was drafted first round in many leagues that year. I am sure that if you had a record of all past transactions for the league, any league, and checked the trades made against the future talent of the selected players you would be surprised at the number of mismatches-in-hindsight. Just because you ran into a example of unbalance, in hindsight, that occurred so quickly and so drastically, so soon... you quit? Quitter. As for his present roster of LT, ADP, Portis, Moss, and Fitz: LT is not getting any younger and it looks like he may already be on his way down. Game to game, Portis is inconsistant. Moss has already lost a year with Brady, and he sure ain't getting younger. Now as for Fitz, he could be good as long as Warner is there, but what happens when the Cards are force to go to Leinart or someone else. So the man has a heck of a team, but this team is not going to be as good next year, and will lessen drastically the year after... So anyways, I guess what I am trying to say is "Seahawk21" will only be in a league where he can build a dynasty team... and when he finally does, all the other owners can quit on him. The purpose with a dynasty team is to build one that will last a few years on top... those on the bottom stay in the league in the hope that they will one day be able to build a stud-farm. The last thing a league needs are owners who will quit just because they don't have the powerhouse every year. If I was in that league I would be saying 'good riddance to a whiner'. Von
