It's been 40 days since the Bears cut ties with Urlacher,,,, and still no takers.

I'm not very sympathetic to Urlacher's plight because he's recieved over 80M from the Bears, he recieved his "past performance reward" when that dumbass Angelo gave him a sweetheart exstension in 08, and if he did give us a hometown discount you'd think he'd take the 2M bc no ones offering more.

He hurt his knee in Dec 11 and pretty much sucked all of 2012. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a serious shot at the HOF. But I'm not about to get sentimental for a player that had a general disinterest, and then what appeared to be a general disdain, for fans that adored him. Over his career he has been asked why he is luke warn to the fans, and he has always responded that it was only a game and a business. Now when the Bears are treating it like a business and walking away from an aging and under performing player, he's playing the "I love this city and want to retire a Bear card." I call BS.

Pro football focus ranked him as head and shoulders the worst run defender we had last year. I'll be suprised if he gets picked up by anyone for 2M or more.

Urlacher was horrible last year and was ranked as the worst run defender we had. Couple that with his quote last year "two people I don't care about, the media and the fans", I could care less if he is gone.

Ed Reed is the best safety of his generation and arguably the best of all time. As the NFL transformed to a pass-first league that featured athletic TEs, Reed made the transition seamlessly. Reed's ability to lower the boom, pass defend, and uncanny ability for INTs and returns made him the prototypical safety. I would rank him as one of my top-5 favorite players of all time.

A side issue is how the national media was duped (didn't SI run a cover story on this joker for Christ sake?). The fact that no on in the media confirmed her existence with a phone call or background check just reflects poorly on today's half-assed journalism.

Are you seriously suggesting that Goodell and the NFL rolled over to get the NFLPA of their collective asses? That is patently absurd! This ruling will only add fuel to Vilma's defamation suit against Goodell and spawn more litigation in the future. Not to mention the ruling puts a serious dent in Goodell's credibility and his appearance of absolute power. The NFLPA will be trumpeting this ruling for the next 10 years.
