Randall
Porter expected to start today By Steve Corkran CONTRA COSTA TIMES Raiders wide receiver Jerry Porter will play in a regular-season game for the first time this season today against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a person close to Porter said Saturday. The person said Porter worked with the first-team offense from the time he rejoined the team Thursday after his four-game suspension was reduced to two and the Raiders reinstated him. Raiders coach Art Shell suspended Porter on Oct. 14 for conduct detrimental to the team. Shell deactivated Porter for each of Oakland's first four games. Porter missed the team's past two games because of his suspension. The person close to Porter said he expects Randy Moss and Porter to be the starting receivers today against the Steelers. Veteran Alvis Whitted has started the first six games in place of Porter. Whitted had 10 receptions for 120 yards the first six games. Porter led the Raiders with 76 receptions last season. Shell and Porter have been at odds since an offseason meeting ended with Shell booting Porter from his office after Porter balked at Shell's insistence that players spend more time working out at the team's year-round facility in Alameda. Porter later voiced his displeasure over the Raiders hiring Shell instead of former St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz, and criticized Shell for hiring offensive coordinator Tom Walsh. Porter did not speak with the media Thursday upon his return. Shell was unavailable for comment. He said Wednesday that he is ready to move on. Inserting Porter into a game would be a manifestation of that sentiment.
jaxfactor
Look around Raiders camp to see who has the red palm. That'll be the guy that finally slapped the sh*t out of Art Shell/Al Davis.
