Agent: Horn still day-to-day

TV station had reported him lost for rest of season

Despite a television report from New Orleans, Saints wide receiver Joe Horn continues to be day-to-day with a groin injury, according to his agent Ralph Vitolo on Tuesday.

WDSU-TV reported, using ESPN as its source, that Horn may miss the rest of the season because of the injury. Vitolo said the report was "not accurate at all."

"I just talked to Joe and he just had his treatment," Vitolo said. "He's going to be day-to-day. He's going to try to play this week."

Saints coach Sean Payton also said Horn would be day-to-day during his Monday press conference when asked about the injury.

There's also been speculation of the severity of Horn's groin injury. According to Vitolo, Horn has a badly sprained groin and not a torn groin.

"If it was torn, than he would be out for the season," Vitolo said. "It's not torn. He pulled it again during the last home game (a win against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 3)."

Horn has been battling the injury since the beginning of November. He was inactive against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 5 and Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 12. He left the 49ers game during the first quarter after making a catch and didn't return. He was inactive against the Dallas Cowboys and hasn't practiced since the 49ers game.

He's caught 37 balls for 679 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games this season.

Horn is one of only four current Saints who have made the playoffs while in New Orleans. Defensive end Willie Whitehead, long snapper Kevin Houser and cornerback Fred Thomas were the other three to play on the Saints' 2000 playoff team.

"The most important thing is to get him back healthy for the playoffs," Vitolo said.

That's pretty contradictory all right. Hope he is back for the super bowl run.

You do have to take into account, though, that this is coming from his agent. But it does seem plausible & if Horn was in fact injured enough to be out for the season I think the Saints would have already IRed him & picked up another player. I believe his groin is probably in pretty bad shape right now & knowing Joe he's probably going to try his best to get back on the field regardless. However I think Payton will keep him sidelined until he feels he's ready which hopefully will be in enough time for the playoffs.

Report: Saints to hold Horn out until playoffs

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Saints expect to hold Joe Horn (groin) out the final three games in hopes he'll be healthy for the playoffs.

The move makes sense due to the emergence of Devery Henderson, Terrance Copper, and most recently, Jamal Jones. Marques Colston is also now close to full health. In shallow fantasy leagues, consider giving Horn the boot. Dec. 13 - 7:19 pm et
