New transit line

Seattle just got a stupid new piece of the puzzle to the transportation nightmare in its city. It's a new fangled trolley car that was basically put in at the request of those developing the South Lake Union neighborhood. The area has essentially been warehouse space for 100 years, with many low income housing venues, that are of course being demolished in favor of high rises and retail facilities to suit the "biotech" companies being recruited into the area.

The trolley car idea was very controversial because this whole region is a transportation nightmare, but somehow this one particular neighborhood got a bucket load of city $$$ to put in this one transit line even though there wasn't anyone really living there at the time of the approval. The chief developer of this area by the way is Seahawks owner Paul Allen (or at least his holding companies). The neighborhood is being dubbed "Allentown" now.

Anyway, as I said, it was a very controversial piece of corporate welfare doled out by the city council, and while sitting at a stop light watching one of the trollies move by, it dawned on me that none of the money went to thinking about what they might name the thing: South Lake Union Trolley.
