Bronco Billy
Jim Bates was fired as the DEN DC today. No link - heard it on sports radio. So Shanahan finds his scapegoat for this year to cover his arse yet again for his poor drafts & equally as poor FA decisions. Bates did what he could, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t, and there was a lot of chicken sh!t on the DEN D this year (as proven by the complete lack of will and/or ability by most D players to make simple tackles). tomfin2000
Bates had a lot of success in Miami and Green Bay, so I tend to agree with the "scapegoat" comment. I doubt he'll have any trouble finding another DC job.
Skilly
Well, the article did say that he resigned, and wasn't fired. I read somewhere that Shanny really liked him, but if he indeed was made the scapegoat for that pathetic defense, then shame on Shanahan. I'd love to hear the players take on this.
