Guest Chappy
http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/charg...s18charger.html Jamal Williams has other Knee 'Scoped The last of the expected offseason surgeries for Chargers players was performed a few days ago when nose guard Jamal Williams underwent his second arthroscopic procedure this month. His recovery from yesterday's procedure is expected to take two to three weeks, about the same time as his recovery from the first procedure. | April 20, 2008 8:03 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.twincities.com/vikings/ci_8987091?nclick_check=1 Nothing New with DE Allen Defensive end Jared Allen and his agent spent a second day at Winter Park on Saturday, talking contract with the Vikings while they talked trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, but no deal was announced. The Vikings were working Saturday night to reach a contractual agreement with Allen, who is believed to be seeking a deal close to the six-year, $72 million package the Indianapolis Colts gave defensive end Dwight Freeney last year. Coach Brad Childress said Friday that the Vikings would not sign Allen to an offer sheet, which would cost the team two first-round draft picks if the Chiefs declined to match. If no deal can be reached, both financially and trade parameters, Allen will visit Tampa Bay early in the week. Last year's NFL sack leader has said he expects to be traded before next weekend's NFL draft. | April 20, 2008 7:53 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.nj.com/jets/ Speculation on QB Ryan to the Jets NJ Star Ledger propsed some fancy theories regarding QB Matt Ryan to the Jets with the sixth pick. "Let's look at what the team has done during free agency. They beefed up the defense and bolstered the offensive line. Tangini is telling everyone who'll listen that Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens will battle it out for the starting job this season. The only problem with that is what happened last season. Pennington was benched and Clemens struggled, for the most part. How does it make sense to go into the next season with the same two players at quarterback when it didn't work out the year before? The winner starts, Ryan stays as a backup if he doesn't win the job outright and the other loser gets traded or cut. That would certainly make more sense than staying with a Pennington/Clemens battle for the starting spot." Just one of the million options for draft day. Bill Parcells knows how to push the right buttons with RB Ricky Williams. One example: Parcells told Williams that former UM running back Ottis Anderson was a Super Bowl MVP for his Giants at age 34. That story inspired Williams, who turns 31 next month. Williams will have to impress his new bosses to earn playing time from RBs Ronnie Brown and Lorenzo Booker. ''He can make all the throws, has nice mechanics, is accurate, tough, smart,'' said draftnik Frank Coyle, who consults for NFL teams. It's impossible to read the Dolphins regarding their feelings on current starting QB John Beck. One person in contact with the Dolphins said they've implied they aren't high on him. A representative for Louisville QB Brian Brohm spoke to the Dolphins about scheduling a private workout and meeting, but Miami never did it. It would seem current QB John Beck is safe from these prospects. Mel Kiper projects Flacco and Brohm to go in the first 13 picks of Round 2. | April 20, 2008 7:10 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/billsnfl/story/327434.html Bills Look at CB in First Round? The Buffalo News suggests the Bills appear headed for the best cornerback available in the April 26 NFL draft. If cornerback or some other position is the choice, rather than their major needs, they would have to get lucky with a big wide receiver in Round Two and luckier yet with a helpful tight end in Round Three or Four considering the supposed thin outlook with that group. CBs Leodis McKelvin, Mike Jenkins, Aqib Talib, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are the top guys if the Bills go this direction. | April 20, 2008 7:00 PM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So how much of what we hear this week will actually be true? Less than 10-20%? No doubt, there will be tons of posturing. Sure does make things interesting.
jaxfactor
Yeah, this is bullsh*t week in the NFL, that's for sure. Some will lay it on thick and heavy. Look at Miami. Jeff Ireland let "defense" slip out in an interview. Was it a Freudian slip as he claimed or was it (cough cough..bullsh*t...cough cough) done on purpose? Could it have been an order sent in by the Tuna? We'll see. Edited April 21, 2008 by jaxfactor

They would essentially either be pissing away their 1st rounder this year or their 2nd rounder in '06, because they can't start both Ryan & Clemens. They also already have a QB with Ryan's pro capability on their roster - his name is Chad Pennington. Why in the Seven Hells would they want a rerun? Same boat with MIA & Beck as there is with NY & Clemens. The big difference? Henne will probably be a better pro QB at a much cheaper price than Ryan. According to the Kansas City Star, the Vikings were close to a contract agreement with Jared Allen before Allen left the Twin Cities. The holdup in hammering out a deal is trade compensation. Allen will likely meet with the Buccaneers before the end of the week, but the Vikings remain the favorites to land him because they're flush with draft picks. The Bucs have only five choices this year and K.C. isn't in search of future picks. Source: Kansas City Star QUOTE =(policyvote @ 4/21/08 7:18am) Worked Ricky Williams into the 4/20 update.
