So... corporations made sure that positive political stories made the news because that would fit better?

"The press corps was under enormous pressure from corporate executives, frankly, to make sure that this was a war presented in way that was consistent with the patriotic fever in the nation and the president's high approval ratings," Yellin said.

There's so much wrong with this if it's true at any level. It doesn't matter which the side of the aisle you belong.

Not only that but many do news stories on themselves and give them to news outlets.

Why pay reporters when you can get free news stories from companies?

Also in the lead up to the war Cheney leaked a story to NY Times reporter Judith Miller(it was BS of course).

He then went on Meet The Press and noted that stpry as proof he was telling the truth.

It's all the same stuff that happened during the Nixon fiasco. The non-denial denial. The self-supporting story leak. Pols beotch about the press but they sure do manipulate it whenever they feel the need to. Unfortunately, the press does little or nothing to distance themselves from this sort of chicanery.

They sure do and it's a lot of the same people.

Everyone who listened to Powell speak at the UN, Bush pull out the inspectors because they never found anything knows what happened. They just don't like loyalists telling the truth.

Bush will pardon anyone found guilty of anything so I hope they wait until he's out of office.

Better yet just load up the paddy wagons as Bush and his criminal gang leave next January.

The "liberal media" concept is a hugh myth. Everybody knows we have a "corporate media" that can be bought and sold. It's infotainment, just like Edward R. Murrow warned us about.

Neil Postman was a pretty good messenger about this as well.

No kidding. The editorial depts were once progressive but the news depts haven't been in ages.

Just another way for Karl Rove/Bush to blame someone else for their own problems.
