Jambase's Best of 2008

Every year the folks at jambase.com ask musicians from the "jam" scene to give them their top 5 albums that they listened to this year and shows they attended: http://www.jambase.com/Articles/16163/JamB...;s-Best-Of-2008

So I figured I would take a stab at it. By the way, with albums, it can be a re-issue or a new release of a concert from a long time ago.

2008 Albums (in no particular order)

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals- Cardinology

Galactic- From the Corner to the Block

Metallica- Death Magnetic

My Morning Jacket- Evil Urges

Slipknot- All Hope is Gone

Live Shows:

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals: Fox Theater in St. Louis in October

Soulive @ The Broadway Oyster Bar in StL.

Bonnaroo: Pearl Jam, Metallica, Chali 2na w/ Galactic, Soul Stew Review, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, many many more!

One thing about this link that I did notice were two albums that came up with artists no matter what the genre the artist was in.

Radiohead: In Rainbows

Racontours: Consolers of the Lonely

I WILL be purchasing these albums very very soon!!!!

Excellent choices.

I'd add

Jose Gonzalez - In Our Nature

All the other albums I discovered this year were released in 2006 or 2007. I'm getting old and slow on the uptick.

I need to pick up Jose's disk. I got 1 track as a freebie as part of a Bonnaroo download, but still have not gotten the entire album.

Check out TV on the Radio's "Dear Science". Great stuff. My top album of 2008.

Radiohead - In Rainbows

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

Can't decide which goes #1.

#3 - Vampire Weekend.

Nothing else grabbed my ear last year. I can see the love for Raconteurs, but they're a little too close to a White Stripes knock off to me.
