Jimmy Neutron
I just dont like this scatback stuff. Maybe next year when Menhall is back I will warm up to him but right now all he has proven is that he hasnt won the superbowl with superbowl quality talent. He could surprise me and win it his year but I just dont think you can win with a tiny rb as your primary weapon. I see your point, but he has managed to not screw Pitt up over two season and kept them in the AFC hunt.

Jimmy Neutron
And that is less than Shanny has done. Not in the last 10 years. Shanahan's methods worked for a while, but I think his main failing was not keeping up with trends in the league. Denver got away for years with having an under-size, athletic, smart O-line and they had a great running game. Now both O and D lines are HUGH and Denver has simply been worn down in the course of many, many games. In the modern NFL, it's time to go big, or go home. He also paid too little attention to an under-preforming defense for way too long, seemingly thinking that if his offense was good enough, the mediocre to poor defense could be overcome. I've watched dozens of games over the last 10 years where the offense put up enough points, but the defense simply failed to hold up for 4 quarters. Shanahan also failed to build/install leadership in the locker room. Nobody has come close to filling Elway's leadership role on offense since he left. Jake had a little fire in him, but not enough to overcome the pressure. After Al Wilson left, the defense has been floundering without leadership. Those things all fall squarely on Shanahan's shoulders. He's a brilliant offensive coach, I won't take anything away from him there. I think Bowlen came to realize it was time to shake things up, despite what Shanahan has done for the organization. 8-8, 9-7 and even 10-6 season simply aren't good enough if it's one and out in the playoffs.
