Azazello1313
so, shortly after christmas I decided to start the process of ripping all of my CDs to mp3 so that my entire music collection will be digital. I still have a ways to go, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. once I'm done, one of the things I want to do get some sort of database software for keeping track of things you can't really keep track of in mp3 tags. recording dates, detailed personnel info, etc. something that will scan all of the folders, import what it can from the mp3 tags, maybe grab whatever other info it can from the internet, and allow me to input whatever else I feel like adding. so far in the little bit of research I've done it looks like this might be a good option. has anyone used it or anything like it? westvirginia
Couldn't you do something in Access to keep from purchasing?
Azazello1313
Couldn't you do something in Access to keep from purchasing? the database part, sure....but I want it to populate most of the fields from the mp3 tags. it would take me much longer than $30 worth of my time to figure out how to do that. if the best product is free, great. but I'm not at all opposed to paying a couple bucks for something that works well. Doesn't Windows Media player do this already or ITunes?
Azazello1313
Doesn't Windows Media player do this already or ITunes? sort of, but not really. they add and retrive metadata from the id3 tags, and I guess you could put a ton of data in the "comments" field, but at the very least the interface is somewhat limited. I'm wanting something more robust on the database end.
