i have a detached 2 car garage with a sloping roof. i want to put a deck on top. is this possible for a weekend warrior? or does it require a whole new garage?

 

You trying to put up a deck so's dat yous can have people watch the Cub games???

IMO if you have to ask if you could do it then its probably to big a job for you. There are building codes you have to adhere too. If it was a deck on the ground thats one thing (even though you still need to do it correctly) but a deck on the second floor. I would hire a professional or make friends with a carpenter.

Sound advice. In my neighboorhood, under 36 inches tall was a breeze. Getting taller stuff permitted and inspected as an amateur was a major pain in the butt, even though they told me they had a special process for it. Apparently, everyone was in on this simple process except the inspector.
