Without necessarily bashing golf... because I don't hate it. Here are my own responses to some of the above (only because in a sense it was bashing every other sport)

1. In golf you cannot fail 70% of the time and make $9 million a

>season, like the best baseball hitters (.300 batting average) do.

What is the "putting average" of golfers? I don't know what that stat is? You are supposed to put the ball in the hole right? then 18 times you succeed, and 54 times you fail (in a round of 72). I realize that's grossly wrong, just like saying a baseball player always fails if he doesn't get a base hit.

2. Professional golfers are compensated in direct proportion to how

>well they play.

Unless, of course, you are getting an appearance fee that is more than the winners check, just for showing up.

3. Golfers don't hold out for more money, or demand new contracts,

>because of another player's deal.

Just because the negotiations between sponsors and golfers isn't out there in the press, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

4. You can watch the best golfers in the world up close, at any

>tournament, including the majors, all day, every day for $25 or $30.

>The cost for a seat in the nosebleed section at the Super Bowl will

>cost around $300 or more.

This I don't know, you can get into the Masters for only $30? And you can be up close to Tiger all day? There aren't hundreds or thousands of people to "race" to the good spots?

5. When golfers make a mistake, nobody is there to cover for them or

>back them up.

Because its an individual sport... what about the Ryder Cup, or team events, then you have people to back you up.

6. Golfers have to adapt to an entirely new playing area each week.

You mean like a different baseball stadium, with different configurations?

7. Golf doesn't have free agency. Sure they do, they are all free agents. If someone doesn't want to play in a tourney, because they don't like the purse and/or appearance fee, then they don't play.

8. You can hear birds chirping on the golf course during a tournament.

Even been to an Atlanta Hawks game? Or Montreal Expos?

Why do full-length golf courses have 18 holes, and not 20, or 10 or

>an even dozen?

Can't argue with that one :D
