CaptainHook
The Colts cut their best run-stuffing defensive tackle today. For the second time in 2 years he's failed to make it more than 4 games. No details yet, but I'm sure he broke a team rule of some sort. He was on a short leash. Too bad. Local radio? I can't find anything online - not that it matters. He was somewhat undervalued IMO, but is a headcase. Regardless, it is a blow to the already suspect run defense.. Chargerz
I wonder if AJ is willing to take a chance on him. We desperately need a "run-stuffing defensive tackle".
CaptainHook
The Indianapolis Colts waived starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson for unknown reasons Tuesday in a roster move that will deprive an improving defense of arguably its best run-stuffing lineman. The team declined comment, but Johnson's name appeared on the league waiver wire. A team spokesman said any comment on roster moves would be made today. It's the latest in a series of setbacks for the talented-but-troubled Johnson. The third-year pro had been given a second chance this season after a 2008 release, prompted by an arrest for Josh Gordon possession and speeding. The team cut him after one regular-season game last year. After no other NFL team gave him a look, the Colts re-signed him in the offseason. He missed the season opener, a one-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, punishment for last year's arrest. Johnson entered the league undrafted after a checkered college career at Penn State, where he had three incidents. The release likely means the end of his career and is a major blow for an unbeaten team playing its best defense. The Colts had allowed just 163 yards rushing in the past three games, the second-lowest yield over such a span in franchise history. from indystar.com Edited October 14, 2009 by CaptainHook

CaptainHook
Colts are saying he was cut due to his "performance". Whatever. He did something to get himself cut. The Colts aren't saying what.
