Called Directv today. Going to have the new dish and new receiver installed this coming Thursday(I'm off) free of charge. I'm getting the DVR for an extra $6 a month on top of the $10 for the HD package. I also got free Superfan for Sunday ticket. I started talking about how pissed I am at the Versus episode between Directv and Comcast and she offered me the hockey package for half price($80). I jumped on it. This is going to be awesome! So this weekend's games will be the last I see on regular TV. I'll be hooked I'm sure.

If you get NFL Redzone on top of your new TV, you're going to think you've died and gone to heaven.

meh... they look cool and go boom boom boom. you know about 13Hz don't you? you know... like the resonance of a Harley?

Just ask H8 what a 15" speaker and 185 watts will do for shaking loose your bowels.

Our 32" monstrosity in the living room just won't die. I may have to accidentially drop a hammer through the screen around tax refund time. Biggest negative appears to be that a new TV will also require a new entertainment center.

Skip the entertainment center if you can. The tight enclosures trap heat and shorten the life of your equipment. If you must go with an entertainment center for the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) then get some small clip on fans to help move the air around and cool things down.

 Directv guy came by this morning and hooked up the new dish. I'm sitting here watching the ballgame in HD and it's fabulous! For those of you holding out like I was, do yourself a favor and make the jump. I'm in heaven already and Sunday Ticket and the redzone in HD still to come this weekend.

My only problem is with the speaker wires. I really have to look into getting a wireless system. My living room is very long and I was unable to place the wires above some of the door frames/doorways. I have temporary throw rugs placed over the wires so as not to bust my ass. But that is something I can fix. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the hell out of this. Goodbye dark ages, hello HD!
