micloria
I am in dire need of points. I am trying to decide whether to start frank Gore (vs ARZ tomorrow night) or Steve Smith (vs PHI tonight). League scoring is - 1 point for every 10 yards rushing/receiving, 1 point per reception. ts
Just how badly are you "in need" of points, and how much risk are you willing to take? Despite the recent SFO change in philosophy to a pass-now, pass-later, pass-all-the-time style of offense, it seems to me that Gore still has more upside potential than Smith, albeit at a very much higher risk level. In PPR scoring, I can easily see Gore getting you ~ 9 FF points, or ~29, depending on how the game flows, if he manages to break a long TD, etc. Smith seems like a much more "reliable" play, likely to get something in the vicinity of ~15 FF points, but with a higher floor & a lower ceiling than Gore. So, to sum up, if you need to swing for the fences to win your FF game, taking what might be an all or nothing approach, I think Gore is your play - but if you just need "safe" points, Smith might be the better bet. Good luck. Edited December 14, 2009 by ts
