Steve Smith (Car) & Dwayne Bowe

To try to save some money at the WR position, I am considering going after Steve Smith (Car) & Dwayne Bowe for my top 2 WR's.

 

My hope would be one of these guys would do better than expected and finish as a #1, top 10 WR. But I also know both could disappoint.

 

I believe I could get both of them for $23 ($100/cap). The top WR's (Johnson/Moss/Wayne) will all for $23-$25 each.

 

Any opinions - smart strategy or too risky?

Depends on how you are able to utilize the money saved and if that improves you more than you could see by targeting a higher end WR

They COULD do well, but no sure thing.

Compare the two of them to getting Andre Johnson at $23, and a longshot at $1.

In fantasy football I really like getting a few mega-stars. But that's me and my strategy.

Both Wr are capable of putting up big weeks, however I wouldn't count on either being a top 10 wr at the end of the year. Both play on running teams. I have questions concerning their QB's, none of which have proven much, if anything. Like both as #2s. If these are going to be your top 2 WR's you need to make sure you are strong at the other postions. I try to find the bargain or value at QB. Their are only a handful of quality WR's, and getting one of them is an advantage.

I found an interesting fact on ESPN:

 

" In the four games that the Carolina Panthers' Steve Smith and Matt Moore both started, Smith had 20 receptions for 378 yards and three touchdowns, including a score in three separate games."

 

I like the strategy to go for SS and Bowe
