matt770
The Wire is my all-time favorite drama series. It is the most realistic cop shows ever made, and also delves into the drug culture, the ports, city government & politics, inner-city public education, and the media. Many of the actors are amateurs from the city of Baltimore, playing out their real lives on screen. Just an awsome show.

Omar is just a fantastic character. Loved when he showed up as a player on "Boardwalk Empire"
ljbrun
If you liked The Wire, you might like Brotherhood which had 3 seasons on Showtime. If you liked either of the above and have any interest in seeing real city (Newark) politics and police work, you might like Brick City. Season 2 just ended. http://www.sundancechannel.com/brick-city/
Furd
I'd also checkout Justified. If you haven't done that yet, you should.
