Republicans, who changed their rules to publicly vet Nezar Hamze and then vote on his application by secret ballot, said they didn't oppose him because he was a Muslim - but because he is associated with the Center for American-Islamic Relations, whose Washington-area affiliate was an unindicted co-conspirator in a federal terrorism indictment.

But when in doubt, cry racism. Otherwise no one listens, right?

A bit of a tenuous association, no? He's in FL and is associated with a group who's DC branch was accused of but not found guilty of, being involved with a terrorist attack.

Yeah, lots of folks are associated with accused terrorists, he's probably fine.

Is every Catholic associated with accused pedophiles?

Does the Catholic church advocate pedophilia?

There are allegations that CAIR has ties to HAMAS and one of its founders once said:

Muslim American "have a duty to deliver the message of Islam" and that "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant."

Certainly some justification to check this guy out, IMO.

One could make the argument that it did in the past given that those in authority sought to cover up the actions of priests who molested and also simply transferred these same priests from one unsuspecting congregation to another.

Covering something up is allowing it to continue. That's telling your group of people, "Hey don't worry about that rape, nothing will happen."
