The reason the Vikings are busy in the offseason

THE SIX KINGS

Fowler gave McCombs a $20 million nonrefundable downpayment, which is the reason the San Antonio skinflint was willing to pay exactly that amount in signing bonuses to three free-agent defensive starters.

Come July, when those bonuses are due, Reggie either owns the Vikings and gets stuck with the bonuses, or his surrendered down payment covers the signing tabs for Fred Smoot, Pat Williams and Darren Sharper. McCombs has nothing to lose, even if Fowler cant buy the team(IMO he wont) its his money thats paying for the bonus parts of the contracts. Billy Joe McCombs is one shrewed buisnessman. First he gets an agreement to sell the team(a team that doesnt have a new stadium deal) for 625 mil, then he gets the same guy to pay for the bonuses to improve the team that he may still own next season.
