Everett Has Torn ACL --

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports Buffalo Bills third-round draft pick TE Kevin Everett has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Everett sustained the injury during Friday's minicamp practice. Everett is expected to undergo surgery later this week, possibly as early as Wednesday. He could miss the 2005 season, although a Bills' official said it is premature to assume that. The injury occurred when Everett made a reception, and then turned to cut upfield, with his foot apparently catching in the turf. He crumpled to the ground and was subsequently removed from the field in a cart. The team announced that Everett suffered a twisted knee and HC Mike Mularkey said the Bills would wait until swelling subsided before making a more detailed diagnosis. An MRI exam, however, revealed the torn ligament, confirming the club's worst fears. Prior to the injury, Everett had been impressive during the practice.

-- Surgery for Everett --

The Buffalo Bills official website reports rookie TE Kevin Everett has torn the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee (noted earlier) and will undergo surgery. The Bills have not set a timetable for his return. Already thin at the tight end position with starter TE Mark Campbell and backup TE Tim Euhus still recovering from reconstructive knee surgeries, the Bills had hoped that Everett's injury wasn't serious.
