Fallstrom, of the Associated Press, reports St. Louis Rams QB Jeff Smoker has switched his uniform number from No. 9 to No. 15 at the recommendation of head coach Mike Martz. Every time Martz looked at Smoker he saw the ghost of QB Joe Germaine, who was supposed to be the backup before getting cut in 2001. Martz said he also recalled couple of college quarterbacks who wore that number being failures, too. Martz had been trying since last year to get Smoker to change his number. "I kind of just kept putting it off, and I kind of showed up this morning and that number was in my locker," Smoker said.
