wiegie
The Louisiana Superdome was so heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath that it likely will have to be torn down, according to a spokesperson for Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. Katrina sheared away much of the roof's covering, and rainwater began leaking into the stadium when it was being used as a shelter of last resort for thousands of residents stranded by the storm. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/06/katrina.impact/index.html
Guest THEbigred
What, no insurance? I've heard this is very likely......GDB "LA Saints."
'canes2004
It was in pretty bad shape before the hurricane. We were at a Saints/Dolphins game 3-4 years ago and there was poop on the walls then. Not to mention nobody in LA is gonna want to continue to fork over 10 mil a year to keep Benson and co. happy. The money could go for a hundred better causes. The big question is what happens to the Sugar Bowl this year?
Czarina
I think the NFL should kick in some big bucks to help rebuild a stadium and permanently put the super bowl there, but they won't be ready to build a stadium for a pretty long time. Bigger fish to fry, as it were.
MrTed46
Why would the NFL spend so much money building a permament home for the super bowl in a place where a hurricane can strike again? IF they want to do that, they will pick a better region.
