What do you mean, 'these days'? This has been the case for decades, ever since the NFL has brought the potential for riches for top college recruits, and many top recruits come from very humble homes. Basketball is the only other sport that really comes close, but kids can go straight there from high school much easier...

I guess what I mean about these days, is never before Have I seen so much crap after recruiting stuff come out. Illinois,Oklahoma,Usc to name a few. We all know to some extent every school has there little perks per say, but it seems some alot more than others of late. True or not, it sorta puts a damper on things. Imagine what some of these recruits are thinking. Edited February 14, 2007 by GOB1
Muggsy
I don't think any evidence of wrongdoing has been brought against Illinois, just some accusations with nothing to back it up
GWPFFL BrianW
I don't think any evidence of wrongdoing has been brought against Illinois, just some accusations with nothing to back it up Illinois doesn't exactly have the cleanest athletic department. Look no further than their basketball team, ALTHOUGH, it seems that a lot of these particular accusations are coming from (no offense) the Notre Dames, Michigans, and Ohio States of the midwest, who are used to just raising their finger and getting any talented kid from the city of chicago to come play for them. Ron Zook is a god awful game coach, but the man can recruit. Look no further than the reigning national champions.

It was already said, it was not a big ten team.
