Asante Samuel New Deal or Trade

Sounds like Shavers wants to be the next Rosenass. I'll bet NE doesn't deal him & Samuels sits out for a while - if Shavers really wants to be the next Rosenass, he'll have Samuels be prepared to sit out the 1st 10 games of the season.

As to Samuels' position - being pissed about making "only" $7.8M for one season - well, just like what was posted in the Briggs' thread - this kid needs to get an agent who has even a modest education in economics, shut up, take the money, by an injury insurance policy, and get on the field & play. He'll end up pissing away a substantial sum of money, hurt his own reputation in the league as well as his marketability, and there's no guarantee he'll get the huge contract he wants next year. Take the huge 1 year money that he's guaranteed by being franchised - NOW!

As to NE - what has happened to players taking less money just for the honor of playing for them & Ol' Cut-off Shirt Sleeves himself?

what i think is likely to happen is this

samuel plays this year under the franchise tag....and the pats grab a corner at 28....the guy i love is eric wright from unlv...ive been talking him up for months now(i have doubts hell even last that long now...i also like brandon merriweather because i think he can play corner as well as safety...reggie nelson is also strong possiblity and i believe he has the same potential versatility that merriweather has...but nelson probably requires a trade up)...id love to get that kid under #28 money for 6 years....and move samuel next offseason for whatever we could get for him(who knows how this season plays out and what his value will be after this year...hopefully a 1st rounder in the 20's...worst case...a 2nd rounder)
