No rookies may get call to start Sunday

Alan Schmadtke | Sentinel Staff Writer

September 6, 2007

Although Jacksonville drafted S Reggie Nelson in the first round and LB Justin Durant in the second round, it's possible the Jaguars won't have either one in the starting lineup against the Titans.

When the Jags added 11th-year S Sammy Knight on Aug. 13, he was thought to be nothing more than a veteran backup. Now he's listed as the starter for the season opener.

In fact, Gerald Sensabaugh, projected to start at strong safety alongside Nelson, has moved back to his familiar spot (free safety) and Knight has moved up at strong safety. Nelson said this week he expected to play, but much of his work could come on special teams. As for Durant, he had a solid training camp but might not be elevated to starter now that Clint Ingram has been ruled out.

That sentence makes no sense. Who's starting for Ingram?

if you read on in the article it states it could be durant or pat thomas

As for Durant, he had a solid training camp but might not be elevated to starter now that Clint Ingram has been ruled out. Regardless, Jags Coach Jack Del Rio declined to say whether veteran Pat Thomas or rookie Durant would take Ingram's place.
