The chances of a #7 moving to #2 is rediculous, this source must be a bias idiot. :D

How does this clown even remotely think, LSU jumps an idle Georgia, an idle OSU, an idle Kansas (OSU and Kansas both with only one loss) , also they'd have to jump VaTech who will handle BC as well.

The only way LSU gets in the title game, is if OSU loses this week :D

Jerry Palm's credentials from his blog spot:

I was a four-year All-American at Purdue.

That's only partially true. Actually, I was a four-year All-American [Marching Band] at Purdue. I played alto sax when I marched and bass clarinet in concert band.

I have 16 years of experience as an baseball umpire and eight years as a basketball referee. I worked youth leagues, high school, and a little college in both sports, but that is another activity I more or less gave up when the first child came along.

I am a frequent guest on sports talk radio during college football and basketball seasons. In fact, I would like to have my own show someday, but I almost never listen to sports talk radio.

I almost never watch Sportscenter either. I don't have the patience to watch a 90 minute show that shouldn't take more than 45.

Would think it's fair to say that the BCS doesn't want to take Georgia or Kansas since they didn't even win their conference division much less their conference championship. LSU's big win over Virginia Tech 48-7 might just be the reason why they would get picked over the Hokies. :D

Dude, give it up !

This guy is just a band geek with a baseball and basketball background that doesn't even listen to ESPN or sports radio.

Typical you'd buy into another nutts idea on LSU football, just like you foolishly did with Miles :D

The way this year is going, nothing would surprise me. LSU, WVU, OSU, Mizzou, whatever - whoever gets in against whom, I predict an 'upset' in the NC game. Why the hell not? The best two 1-loss teams should be there, not a 2-loss team, just because that's the way the BCS works. Not the two best teams right now - just the best overall resume (however the SOS is figured out.) The only year it really seemed to work was USC v. Texas, and that one was an easy call because they were the two best all year long - very, very rare, obviously. And one of the best games ever played - we all got lucky there.

Meanwhile, I can only dream of a world where UGA and USC - arguably the 2 hottest teams right now - could get into the NC game via a playoff. (Early or mid-year injury issues are what they are - the BCS pushes those teams aside, and you end up with 2nd tier teams in the NC title cuz they had an easier road. Oh well.) A reasonable 8 team playoff system would make me smile.

But until then, I'll just pick and choose the few bowls that feature the matchups I most want to see. The rest are made for highlight shows on ESPN. God bless America.

WVU's explosive O is just fun to watch, and I expect them to get there, and make it interesting. No matter who the other team is....

Are these the type of sources you are talking about when you say things like, "Lots of analysts think LSU should be in the NC game"? :D

Depends on how you define analysts, but thank you for reminding me.

Do you ever listen to Mike and Mike in the Morning? Earlier this week they were discussing why we need a playoff system and why we don't have one is because of money. To make a long story short they still had LSU favored had we had one right now. :D

Want to be, could be, should be, and deserve to be, are all completely different things. If you team isnt in it right now complain about who you lost to. You only have yourself to blaim. I dont care who is hot now, I dont care who was hot in week 2. I care about who brought it every week. Since nobody did this year I care about who brought it every week but 1. If Ohio State doesnt get in sure I will be disapointed. But I sure as hell am not going to cry about the system. Should have showed up against Illinois. Should have challenged the fumble. Should have had the punt team ready. Should be going to New Orleans. Should ofs get you crap. This board has too many people pointing fingers and not enuff people maning up.

If you're pointing at me, you missed my point. I want a playoff, since the BCS fails to do for the NCAA what every other sport's playoffs do - show you who the best team in the land is at THIS POINT in time. Did the NFL team that 'brought it every week' the best last year - the Chargers - get to show a trophy for it? No, they got stomped by the Pats and the coach lost his job. Just like Mizzou would get stomped (I believe, but cannot prove) by UGA and USC right now, if a playoff was in place.

Do I still respect Mizzou and WVU - and even OSU - for doing a better job than my Trojans in the middle of the year, and only losing 1 vs. 2 games? Yes, I do; but I do not have to believe that the BCS champ is the best team right now. And I don't think anyone else can either, without a playoff.

We have to live with it, since apparently all the power lies with the conference commishes and not the fans or media, who are clamoring for change. But I don't have to like it. If you do, Cameltoe, good for you - but it has nothing to do with 'manning up'.

No excuses - we didn't get it done this year, again. But my Trojans have either been in the NC game - or within one victory of it - for 5-6 straight years. (Assuming we beat UCLA...) they've won their conference for 6 straight years and been in BCS bowls for 6 years. And that's better than most teams can say, so I am very proud of my team. No whining here.

It may have come after your post but it wasnt directly at you. I havent posted here for long but I have lurked for years and I know you are a stand up guy. In fact, I dont think its at anyone on this board in particular. Maybe I am just sick of everything I hear, read, or watch about college football being negative. Meanwhile, for 14 weeks every summer/fall it is my absolute favorite thing in the world to involve myself in. I dont have kids, so I assume it will change when that happens, but right now my wife knows that outside a wedding or a funeral we arent doing anything on Saturday afternoons. I love it. Can it get better, sure. But that doesnt mean it isnt pretty damn good now. And if you arent a rainbow than you only have yourself to blame for whatever happens. This has been one of the most entertaining seasons ever and all anyone can do is complain. :D rant over.

Thought a few of you might like to hear what this Jerry Palm guy sounds like. Sorry it's abit outdated, but alot of what he says about the Buckeyes still holds true today.

Ironically this video is from the The Big 10 Network. :D

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/bcs-talk...palm/3192544918

what I got out of that video is that OSU's SOS isnt good, which I have heard a million times and everyone agrees with. And LSU squandered the best talkent in the nation.

It was reported down here on one of our local TV stations that Jerry Palm thinks LSU could jump Ohio State if the Tigers win against Tennessee. Jerry Palm runs "CollegeBCS" and is considered a BCS guru, like Brad Edwards of ESPN. :D

You must be :D with this thread.

Sorry, not going to bite.

I just want to say one thing.... while I believe that the best team may not necesarily be the team that wins the championship (in any sport), I believe that if you want to be considered as one of the best ever, you must win a championship. Just want to point that out, because there seems to be some that believe that LSU or USC for that matter are in that category because that is what the media wants us to believe. The fact is, these teams are not great at all, and in a system where only 2 teams can make it, then losses should be punished. You can say what you want about the Big Ten, the fact is, it is and always will be a major power conference, in good years and in bad, and if a team wins that conference and has a better record doing so than another, then they are more deserving. Which I think some of you have rightfully pointed out. The BCS is about who is most deserving. Not necesarily best, but again, I want to point out, that none of these teams would hold a candle to some of the great teams of the past. They would be 28 point underdogs against some of those teams. As far as who the best is. I don't think a team that is the BEST, loses to a 5 loss team that is barely bowl eligable. Just my opinion.

I thought so. If you want to bash me there are plenty of opportunites with my logic and reasoning. I never saw the grammer train coming.\

eta: :D I spelled grammar wrong. maybe I do need to proof read my $hit.

You are only kidding yourself if you think the the BCS is all about which teams are more deserving. It's all about which teams best manipulate the BCS system. :D

Hopefully the BCS will prove me wrong on Sunday should the Sooners get the win and LSU wins the SEC.

2 things: How does a team manipulate the system and what would happen if the Sooners and LSU win?
