Dirty Sanchez
I'm sure this has been discussed. I'm no Jedi like Big John when it comes to the search function. So, can someone point me to a thread or make a suggestion for good places to eat in St. Louis? We're talking steak/ribs here! Thanks. Dirty Sanchez
Steak and ribs!?! Forget about it. Go to WHITE CASTLE! Or PM Twiley. Mmmmmm...... White Castle. You may be on to something there. They don't have the real deal where I live, so I'll be sure to make a side trip for some sliders if I can find the place. fingfootball
Every time my wife and I go to St. Louis she wants to go to Lombardo's Trattoria, it's in the basement of the Drury Inn Union Station. Also IMHO you can't leave St. Louis without having an Imo's pizza, my favorite pizza ever. http://www.lombardosrestaurants.com/rest_about_us.htm http://www.imospizza.com/
twiley
I'll need to know how much you're looking to spend and what part of town you'll be in. I really don't associate good ribs with St. Louis but there are a few places that do a decent job.

Twiley, I don't know if we have discussed this or not but if he's looking for good steaks and is around Soulard, would you suggest Tuckers? IMHO, one of the better steaks in STL for the price. Then a nice night of debauchery at the various blues joints around that area. Always a winner. Sanchez, if your into music, PM me, I have been in and out of varioius zydeco, bluegrass, blues, and funk bands in St. Louis and can point you to some great spots if you tell me when your gonna be here. Ribs? Kansas City

Ribs? Kansas City Tuckers is decent particularly for the price, I don't get there too often. Pretty casual environment and one can walk up to McGurk's right after dinner. I'm closer to Sam's Steakhouse and Citizen Kane's so we'll go there if we want a decent steak. My problem is that I've yet to find a phenomenal consistent steakhouse here in St. Louis. Both Sam's and CK have let me down in the past but I've eaten there enough to where the good certainly outweighs the bad. I've gotten better steaks at restaurants that don't consider themselves to be steakhouses. Flemmings and Ruth Chris are good but they don't speak St. Louis to me. Here's my rank for "steakhouses" here in St. Louis: 1) Flemming's - Located in Frontenac - chain restaurant but I've yet to have a bad steak. Expensive. 2) Citizen Kanes - Located in Kirkwood - old victorian house converted to a restaurant. For the most part pretty consistent. 3) Sam's Steakhouse - Located in Sappington (?). Gives off the old steakhouse feel - dark and steaks are pretty good. 4) Ruth's Chris - see Flemming's 5) Dierdorf and Hart's - Have never had a bad meal here. 6) Tucker's - Located in Soulard . Very casual but steaks are decent sized and price is cheapest bar none. I've gotten inconsistent steaks from them but when they were cooked properly they were good. 7) Best Steak House - located across from the Fox downtown. Reminds me of Tuckers plus I know the owner. Their hours are hit or miss. 8) Kreis's - located in Frontenac - It's been a few years but the steaks were consistent. Nothing remarkable but wasn't bad at all. A little pricey. 9) Mike Shannons - downtown - Overpriced. 10) F15teen - Owned by Jim Edmonds - Located downtown. Overpriced and overcooked. 11) Charcoal House - dark remodeled Denny's located in Rock Hill - Webster Area - I'd probably go to Outback before this place. Dirty Sanchez
I'm only gonna be in town for a couple of days. I work for a Budweiser distributor in Arizona. Ther's a group of about 7 of us coming up on the company dime to check out the brewery and hopefully catch a Cardinals game. Going to watch a Cardinals game on Friday night (hopefully doesn't get rained out). Saturday, going to tour the Bud brewery and check out the city a bit. Going home Sunday. Pretty much just looking for a good place to eat for Saturday night. Is there any local cuisine we should check out that you recommend? (Not just steakhouses) Edited April 15, 2008 by Dirty Sanchez

(Not just steakhouses) The Hill is always great for Italian but I won't be much help. If you're going on the company dime then I suggest some of these places: http://www.saucemagazine.com/tonys/ - awesome There's Niche but your party won't be able to get in, they're booked out for over a month now that their Chef was named one of the top chefs in America. I'll be there in 2 weeks. http://www.monarchrestaurant.com/ - might be tough to get into and depends on when you'll be in town. http://www.anamericanplacestl.com/ - very expensive You can head to the new casino and eat here - http://www.lumiereplace.com/sleek.aspx http://www.kemolls.com/ - it's been awhile but this place is good. There are a ton of great restaurants. You coming this weekend? Man, it's going to rain all weekend.

twiley
Unfortunately! Thanks for the input on the restaurants. Heavy showers on Friday right now with rain in the forecast for early Sat. Since every channel is predicting the Fri. rain then that's a given. You may luck out for Saturday though but that's too far out for our horrible weather guys to predict.
