LosGatosEnFuegos
We have an owner in my local griping that the waivers locked for him once he was eliminated from the playoffs. We are a keep 2 league. I feel very strongly that this is exactly how the league should operate. He feels strongly that it isn't. I wanted to get some opinions and some idea of how everyone else's leagues worked. Do you lock waivers for teams once their season is over? His argument is that if he wants to take a flyer on an IR player or other WW fodder, he should be able to do so. My opinion is that nothing should be allowed to interfere with teams who are still playing. Also, this gives an unfair advantage to teams who are eliminated early. They already get early draft picks. They shouldn't be allowed the opportunity to drop their kicker, DEF, TEs, etc. to pickup skill position players to potentially keep for next season. FWIW, this is the 10th year of this league and the first time someone has had beef with this rule. What say ye? How does your league work and does this guy have a leg to stand on if he wants to bring a rule change vote in the offseason?
CaptainHook
If it's a keeper league, waivers should not be locked, IMO.

Why didn't he just pick up this player in week 13 or 14 or whenever his last regular season game is then.
tazinib1
Why didn't he just pick up this player in week 13 or 14 or whenever his last regular season game is then. You should know the answer to this question oh great one.
LosGatosEnFuegos
Why didn't he just pick up this player in week 13 or 14 or whenever his last regular season game is then. His team is already stacked with RBs, many of them on IR or out for the past few weeks. When I played him in the first round of the playoffs, his bench was all RBs and one WR. So he was obviously looking to drop his other positions that he needed to put together a full starting lineup. This is why I strongly oppose waivers after elimination. If you want a player, stash them on your bench when you still need to put together a starting lineup. Otherwise it's just ill-intentioned player hording. PPIchamp
Since it's a keeper league, I can see the owners argument. But I still agree with you that once the playoffs start, elimineted teams should be locked for the duration of the fantasy season. There's no need to open the door to potential collusion or other nefarious tampering of the WW/FA pool. I know hindsight is 20/20, but you should have announced this rule at the start of the season to avoid just this situation....or did you announce it? Agree. In a 2 keeper league the chances that someone on the waiver wire would be kept for next year is probably close to 0. And if there's someone he really wanted that bad, he could've picked him up b/f the playoffs.
keggerz
if you are going to lock teams out of waivers and are a keeper league then you should add a rule that states players picked up by playoff teams once non-playoff teams are eliminated are NOT eligible to be kept as a keeper
