CaptainHook
NEW YORK -- Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson has won The Associated Press 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. The versatile Woodson tied for the league lead with nine interceptions, returning three for touchdowns, and was a key to the Packers' turnaround on defense. His role in Green Bay's performance -- second in the league in overall defense, first in interceptions (30), takeaways (40) and turnover margin (plus-24) -- earned Woodson 28 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NFL. He doubled the number of votes for New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis in becoming the first Green Bay winner since Reggie White in 1998 and just the second Packer in the 36-year history of the award. link
Puddy
Good for him. Love the guy and he had a hell of a year.
Randall
Damn Raiders signing Asomugha. I was hoping we'd sign him too. With decent CB's Woodson could be turned loose more and could be even better. Maybe next year. Great year for Charles.

budlitebrad
Here's a reaction quote: "I would like to congratulate the people who voted for Darrelle Revis, those guys obviously really know the game." I'll let everyone guess who said it. It may take a while to figure it out.

Ed Hoyle
Woodson deserves this. He is the cornerstone of the Defense (outside of the AZ and Pitt games where they got shelled.) Good for him.

Yeah, can't go wrong with Revis or Woodson. Woodson stats on paper are better I think.
BeeR
Yeah he sure tore it up vs AZ. As with Manning I have no problem w/the decision but disagree w/the margin of victory a lot. Oh well I guess they figure Revis already won one award

Rovers
I have no problem with Woodson winning, he had an incredible year. He deserves all the recognition coming his way for a great, great season. Revis will get more shots at it. Woodson is nearing the end of a HoF career... good for him. What I don't get is why the vote wasn't a little bit closer. In a perfect world, as defined by me, Woodson would be Defensive MVP, and Revis Defensive POY. But, I also have to wonder about any voter that didn't select either Woodson or Revis. Other players had good years, sure, but none close to what Woodson and Revis did this year. Rovers
Rovers? You tool! I said all along I'd have no complaints if Woodson won, and I dont. I didn't hear the sound bite, but odds are 100-1 it was Rex Ryan.
