Outside the box....

I have been trying to think outside the box lately on games that I think will be close.

This week I am going with:

Buffalo over Miami

Cleveland over Cincinnati

Both Miami and Cincinnati are the favorites. Miami by a good bit and Cinn is almost a pick-em.

So what do you big time bettors think? Should I just stick with the favorites?

(These picks are straight up...no points given/taken.)

Myself when I'm wagering on games with teams that are eliminated from the playoffs ,,, I find that the 1st half of the games usually play a little truer to form than the 2nd half. So if these picks you are making are to wager on and not a pick-up pool ?

Conciser playing the 1st half scores, most all books take wagers on 1st half games.

LOL, I tried my hand at half scores and quarter scores and just didn't like it. Granted, it is more lucrative than just base line over and under.

Hmmm.... so my two teams could win the 1st half and lose the game is what you are saying? So I should just go for them for the 1st half?

Not sure I like that. Sorta like .... well .... I understand what you are saying...but that kinda goes against the grain of betting on a team to win.

Going with your gut, I'd say the Miami - Buffalo game is too difficult to pick either way. Usually, when a team wins a game like Buffalo did last week, they experience a let down. But then Miami won a big game last week too, so there could be a let down for them. However, Miami is not out of the playoff hunt yet, as they can theoretically finish 10-6 if they win out. I wouldn't pick against the home team in a divisional matchup where the home team has a playoff hunt on the line. And Buffalo's defense is terrible enough to not exploit Chad Henne's suck-i-tude. I like Cleveland a lot more. Cincy has fallen and they can't get up.

Wait !!!

I'm not saying that your teams can win anything ,,, I haven't even handi-capped those games

What I'm saying is if you are planning on wagering on teams that are out of the playoff race then they usually play the 1st half of the game truer to form than the 2nd half.

It is much like playing the 1st preseason games ,,, the teams that ended the season with a higher ranking ,, the coaches usually have less players to look at and therefor less rotation of players in the 1st half of games. So if wagering on early preseason games I use the same philosophy.

I'm not giving you any advice on the games you have posted

Just my thoughts

Didn't even consider that Miami isn't eliminated from PO contention yet. Definitely something to consider for sure. Hmmmm...... gonna have to think about this a whole lot.

Thanks.

Saints over Ravens.

Don't think Cleveland can win with Delhomme. I like the Buffalo call though and my heart is picking Seattle over Atlanta.

I am of the mind that Cincinnati can't win with anyone.

Buffalo is/was a gut call against what I thought was a team out of the PO run. Even without Evans I was giving Buff a strong thought. I may have to have a confernce with my gut and see if we can come to a consensus.

Seattle couldn't beat the Little Sisters of The Fumble.

I too have the Saints over the Ravens. If Houston can come from 21 down the Saints can surely win.
